Demand Your Right to Peace and Quiet

Noise from the Oakland Valley Race Park (OVRP) is destroying the quality of life in Cuddebackville and Huguenot, New York. Situated in a valley, The OVRP’s noise pollution spoils the peace and quiet for MILES. The existing regulations have not been updated since the 90s. Today the kart engines are much more powerful and their mufflers are NOT CUTTING IT. We hear POUNDING, GROWLING and roaring for HOURS AND HOURS.

Sure it’s a day of fun for the racers, but not for those who actually live near a racetrack in operation 100 hours a week. We, the residents who live near the OVRP racetrack are asking the owners to do the right thing and respect their neighborS’ right to peace and quiet by USING EFFECTIVE SILENCERS; They are not that expensive and the rigs will still go plenty fast enough.

We respectfully request the Deerpark Town Government to protect HOMEOWNERS’ basic rights and property values by updating and enforcing the local noise ordinances. WE INVITE OUR Town BOARD MEMBERS TO VISIT SOME OF US WHO LIVE IN THE OAKLAND VALLEY NEIGHBORHOOD ON A NOISY DAY/EVENING/WEEKEND aND ACTUALLY EXPERIENCE WHAT WE HAVE TO ENDURE —- just a SHORT DRIVE UP AND DOWN OAKLAND VALLEY ROAD, BIG POND ROAD, PROSPECT HILL ROAD, EVEN PARTS OF ROUTE 211.
