Comments about the OVRP from local residents

“The racetrack’s very existence has always been more valuable to those whose responsibility it has been to monitor its aberrations.  The OVRP's schedule, noise levels and overall impact on those in its proximity, has always been problematic. Any sensible person would have to ponder though, its impact on the property value of its nearby neighbors. Why take strides toward Home and Property improvements, only to be reassessed with no consideration in reference to your proximity to the Park. I truly hope that [this] endeavor results in actions that could improve all of our lives.”

“When the trees are bare, we can hear it in the house; even with the leaves on, it's hard to enjoy the outdoors when they're running.”

“The noise from the racetrack on Valley Hill Road made it all the way to the top of the mountain on Big Lake Road. I could hear the droning until after 11:00 pm. This is the time of year that I would like to open the windows or spend time on the deck. Surely existing ordinances need to be enforced. Please ad this message to your files.”

“Saturday evening, while sitting on my back porch on Prospect Hill Rd, Cuddebackville, with guests, we were all very disturbed by the “zooming” of the race cars at the track over a valley away on Oakland Valley Rd. We could hardly have a conversation over the noise. It didn’t stop until 11:10pm (which I know because I glanced at a clock)!  Please do something to control or stop or just enforce the existing noise ordinances.”

“We live on Prospect Lake in Huguenot, far away from the race park and the even at that great distance, the noise from the cars disturbs the peace and has for years. We pay significant taxes in the Town of Deerpark and feel that the noise from the racetrack compromises the value of our property. Please add our name to the list of community members seeking a change to the noise monitoring and the significant reduction of it.”

“Came here to enjoy birds and land. Now I have to wear ear guards to work in garden. The noise at night is disruptive.”

“Although we are located two and a half driving miles from the track, we can hear the noise from it at our elevation on Griffin Rd. in Oakland Valley. We have been here since 1981, and it has certainly gotten louder.”

“Yes, we are very much interested in participating in a battle that has been addressed previously without much concrete result”

“We’re more than ten miles as the crow flies from the raceway and it sounds like it’s in our backyard!”

“The noise yesterday evening was intolerable from about 6 pm until at least 9:30 pm. It started again today around 10 am and continues.”

“In 2020, we invited business colleagues who’d been stuck far from home because of the pandemic to visit.  They were so happy to be able to finally be outside in the fresh air;  no chance to enjoy Deerpark’s rural beauty, the deafening noise from the track drove us all inside!”
